FT = ForbiddenTome — tap to see Korean slang explained

Anonymous Water Resources Corporation existential dread incoming. I was living in Seoul and got stationed in the mountains of Gyeongbuk for work. It was so hard I cried, and then at night I get this KakaoTalk... sparkling eyed Pitch Deputy Manager, hello. Did you have a good commute home? I know it's not proper etiquette to contact you during personal time, but as your senior at work, I'm reaching out because I have something to say. 7:10 PM - Sparkling eyed Pitch Deputy Manager, when I found out you were a Seoul native, I was really worried. You lived in a place with so many convenience facilities and cultural facilities within arm's reach, so I thought it wouldn't be easy to work in these mountains. I myself, as a weekend husband whose wife and kids live in Gyeonggi Province, feel the huge difference between the home environment and the work environment every Monday morning when I commute. You must feel it even more. 7:15 PM - Sparkling eyed Pitch. But Deputy Manager, you must have known this when you were preparing to join our company. That you can't always work in the city. And the fact that you applied to the Nakdong River area instead of the Han River area means you desperately wanted to join our company regardless of where you'd be stationed, right? But Deputy Manager, everything is your choice. Knowing that you could work like this in the mountains, why didn't you apply to our Nakdong River region? 7:20 PM - Sparkling eyed Pitch. Everything is your choice, and saying such things within the department is wrong behavior. Also, you can't use gender or tears as a weapon. 'The director isn't free enough to accept all your whining, and there are many people working in much more remote rural areas than this branch. From now on, don't say such things ever again, and I've sent you a gift coupon, so I hope you'll have a change of mood by treating yourself to something nice on the weekend. Sorry again for reaching out in the evening, see you next week.' 7:24 PM

State-owned company exile is just the beginning. Keep seeing news about public institutions relocating to provinces. Imagine if they sent the corporate bank to Daegu lmaooo how many people would quit
A branch with a senior like that? That's a blessed workplace
My wife's headquarters is in Jincheon but got transferred to Seoul, then recently they said she could go back to headquarters. I thought whatever, but she was like nah? I thought she was being unreasonable. She's a team lead, job hopping is rough right now, and if she was gonna switch she should've done it earlier. She blew her golden window and now when it comes to actually moving to the countryside she doesn't want that either. So I straight up said 'I don't get you. Someone has to go. How does infrastructure even matter as an excuse? If I was told to go, I'd go. We gotta make money, right? If someone tells me to go I'm going and that's how I'll handle it.' and we fought. My own girlfriend doesn't listen to me, honestly. She really doesn't listen at all. I don't know if this is just average for women or if everyone—men and women—gives up over infrastructure issues. We fought for a while but I genuinely don't get it.
I get why your wife feels that way though... Where even is Jincheon, some country backwater? Never even heard of it. If you wanna understand your wife, actually go to Jincheon yourself or at least check Google Street View. Is there even one decent restaurant? Y'all are supposed to be making a living but if the food spots are all trash, you wouldn't want to go either right? Your wife probably feels like she's being exiled. Stop nagging her and help her find a new job
Since I went to a sports university and lived in the athlete village, I've seen the Jincheon sports complex area, so I know what it's like. It's not even that bad financially. The restaurants and all that—that's not really the issue. The real problem is she didn't job hop when she should've, she completely missed her golden window, and now she's panicking thinking the transfer's coming through. That's what pisses me off. Is infrastructure the issue? Most people can't go without working for even a couple months without serious problems. We have two kids, so obviously things get rough. It stops being about wanting to go or not and becomes a real crisis. Even though I make more money right now, honestly I don't get my wife's mindset. If infrastructure was that important why didn't she do anything about it until now and now she's just sitting around like this
the way she's gonna come back a different person after experiencing actual peace and quiet lol
If she really can't handle it just quit. Why complain and make everyone else miserable
For real she keeps whining and everyone's giving her sympathy so now it's a total mess
honestly this is like watching someone from nyc move to rural kansas, i'm dying to know what happened
Venting her feelings at her workplace and then posting about it like she did something right lmao
She probably posted it 'cause she doesn't even realize what she did wrong lol
lmaooo the culture shock must be REAL 😭 seoul girls vs gyeongbuk girls is literally a different universe
as a gyeongbuk person this is kinda offensive but also funny bc it's probably true 💀
wait i need to watch this whole video, the thumbnail alone is sending me
