So on that Easter, they were doing missionary work and handing out eggs, right? But I was so hungry that I asked if I could take 4 eggs and eat them. That's what I said. But then that ajumma said each friend gets two, so why do you want to eat four? So I said I was going to eat them with ramen tomorrow... Then she asked for my home address. Like, what are my parents doing? Are they home? She asked lol. Now that I think about it, it's fucking crazy, but I answered her too? Back then, my dad was being treated in the hospital for his illness and my mom was working day and night without rest...
Then a few days later, a bunch of ajummas came rushing over and started ringing our doorbell. Since I'm not a scary person, they asked me to open the door. And when they came in, they were like "this is not the time to pray....." and they literally cleaned the whole house and did all the piled-up dishes, made dinner for when mom came home, wrote some kind of letter to mom and left. I still don't know what was in that letter, but I just remember mom reading it and crying a lot.
After that, every Wednesday evening, the ajummas would take turns coming to our house and bringing side dishes. Some ajummas would even cook and eat with me lol... It's not a big deal, but I think I enjoyed that time when someone visited the house. It was my first time experiencing adults speaking to me in formal tone and it was thrilling lol.
So after getting help for about a year, dad had his surgery go well and got re-employed, and mom had some breathing room, so after that the ajummas stopped coming... hehe. Sometimes I think that unconditional help back then is what shaped my mentality now, so I donate money to volunteer organizations that priests talk about. I ended up not having a religion, so the ajummas didn't succeed (?), but I often think about how warm-hearted people who practice love are. [Comment] 31442, 2 hours ago. Those ajummas didn't fail. They practiced the teachings of Catholicism and as a result, they gave birth to someone who loves humans and loves the world, so they succeeded more than any other believers.

This is genuinely one of religion's positive functions. It used to be one of the major roles religion played—helping the poor in the gaps where the state doesn't reach.
Religion gets a lot of hate, sure, but they do fill the welfare gaps in society. The problem is there are so many actual scumbags doing completely fake religious stuff...
You can see asshole comments trying to stir up hate even under a wholesome post like this.
This is what religion's positive function looks like
This is so wholesome omg, the internet can actually be nice sometimes 🥺
Finally someone asking the real questions, eggs are literally the answer to everything
The king answered, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.' Matthew 25:34—I guess we can just say heaven's got us on a free pass then
These are genuine believers right here...
That one line—'this isn't a time to pray'—shows with just that the real believer recognizes reality faster than religion itself. Priests might prioritize prayer, but the actual believers gotta face reality first
Lmao why is this making me emotional, people really came through with the egg knowledge
Not me reading this at 2am getting life advice from strangers about breakfast food 💀
