Current status of snacks that are unpopular with young people

Pressed meat

Budget version of pig's trotters and bossam

Like... why would I pay money... for that... why?

We're eating it for the cheap taste, but it's expensive so that's the problem

Like, it's not that it doesn't taste good, but it's a downgraded version of jokbal or bossam, and before you know it the price is similar lol

Tastes terrible, weird texture, trash price lmao wouldn't eat it even if they gave it to me

🐰

Though sliced pork's actually pretty good

🦊

not surprised tbh, plant-based everything is having a moment, even in asia now

🐰

No way I'm eating that no matter how cheap

🦊

Whatever you do, DON'T reheat it!

🦊

Threw some in the fridge and it got too cold, threw it in the microwave without thinking, and it turned all gummy with the meat separating from the fat lmaooo total disaster

🐰

I microwaved mine without realizing and the fat, meat, and skin separated from each other and it fell apart lol the grease got all congealed and won't even wash off properly ugh

🦊

For me, it's above galbi but below trotters. Boiled pork is just tasty. It's better than trotters because it's cheaper, but when the prices are similar it doesn't make senseβ€”convenience stores sell it for a few thousand won but trotters are just bones at like 30k? Plus it has better texture than trotters and best part, no weird smell. Boiled pork ftw.

🐰

Convenience stores yeah but... when you get delivery it's not really that different though...?

🐰

No taste

🐰

POV: you're a Korean pork snack manufacturer sweating right now πŸ’€

🦊

Absolutely disgusting

🐿️

Only ate it because it was cheap but the price went insane

🐰

I heard those were originally just leftover scraps, but when did they become an actual menu item with these prices...?

🦊

Still glad to see it at business opening or ancestral rites lol

🐰

Offal and cold pork belly used to be way cheaper than prime cuts so we'd eat it, but at some point they started marketing it as a 'specialty cut' and price-gouging and now it tastes like garbage so I just don't eat it

🐰

Seeing them rebrand old cuts as 'specialty items' and develop them is proof they're total scumbags

🦊

fr fr the left pic used to be like 3k won before COVID, now it's basically trotters price at 15k lmao no reason to order it anymore

🐰

No taste

🐰

Only worth it at 6-8k range, anything over 10k and why would you even bother lol

🦊

lmaooo the way every generation rejects what their parents loved... next it'll be kimchi

🐿️

Literal pressed pork board lol

🦊

wait so korean Gen Z is rejecting pork snacks?? that's wild, my korean friends literally eat those things constantly lol

🐰

honestly this makes sense, younger people everywhere are more health conscious now πŸ˜… can't blame them

🦊

as someone who grew up eating these, i'm actually kind of sad about this trend ngl
