I see this as the gap between how online and offline communities understand the world. When you hang around these forums, you see those edgy [드립|jokes] all the time—it's problematic but people just go 'don't do it again' and move on. But when outsiders see it, it's touching on social taboos. A simple apology doesn't cut it for the general public. It's like how if a major US corporation makes 9/11 jokes and gets caught, they're done for—same thing happens in Korea when you joke about 5/18. The real issue is that people in these communities forgot that this awareness exists outside their bubble
This is legit true lmao—it's like how you can joke around with friends but the second you say something like that in front of your girlfriend or college classmates, you get treated like a total [병신|idiot]
