Our Neighborhood's Unusual Mister

He's not exactly a villain type—if anything he's more like a good guy. I heard about him from the grandmas at the community center. Don't know his exact age, but based on the sparse white hairs I see, he looks like he's in his mid-50s. Not sure if he's unemployed or what, but even on days when I'm on vacation, I see him sometimes smoking on the rooftop.

Anyway, up to this point he just looks like your typical retired ajusshi lol

This old man goes around doing extraordinary acts of kindness. When he notices a dog tied up on a leash looking neglected, dirty, or tired, he finds the owner and...

"Would it be okay if I took this dog real quick for a bit?" At first, the owners naturally say no, but he... they must have thought he was a dog trader lol

The old man then hands over his phone and wallet and says "I'll really just take him for a bit and come right back." Still, 5-6 out of 10 reject him, but the remaining 4 agree and let him take the dog.

So the old man takes the dog, and a few hours later when the dog comes back, it's been showered, groomed, all cleaned up, and it's been on a walk somewhere—tongue hanging out, panting like crazy haha

Seeing that, they ask "Why is he like this?" and he says "These pups get so bored being tied up, so I just took off the leash and took him for a walk..." and hands the dog back. When they try to thank him or offer a reward, he firmly declines saying "It's just my hobby, my hobby..." and coolly grabs his wallet and phone and leaves.

So everyone with dogs in the neighborhood met that old dude once, and they all ended up with their dogs looking equally clean

One time I asked him why he bothered doing this, spending his own time and money on it

His dog that he used to raise died last year, and it looked like one of its limbs had been torn off somewhere

He said he felt too sorry for that dog that's already gone to raise another one, so instead he does this

Like, he just goes around checking on and taking care of the neighborhood dogs...
