What's the point of catching them with so much effort when judges reduce their sentences anyway
Sentence bargain sale, it's insane

If we used an AI judge, that AI company would definitely get a lighter sentence

It's unavoidable because sentencing follows sentencing guidelines mate
The sentencing guidelines committee is the root of all evil. Just a collection of old, outdated garbage people
honestly this made me reconsider how I talk about people in positions of authority, didn't think about it like that before
However, the defendant had always treated the AI with respect...
Wait, is this court in the Matrix?
The defendant used respectful language every time they asked a question and even added a thank you at the end...
No comments saying the judge's family should go through it? Isn't that hate speech too?
Looks like they've filtered out everything that would be actionable even without being a judge lol
That's it? lol
At least the National Assembly gets dragged alongside them since they make the laws—that's the good stuff
How dare they to a judge!
The thing is no, that's some serious cutting when they judge harshly just because it happened to them
I also want to ask why defendants have to write apology statements to judges instead of victims
Because it's up to the judge's mood lol
Whether people agree or not, they do explain: an apology statement isn't 'oh this person is sorry so let's go easy on them.' It's more about showing whether this person has an attitude of compliance with society. (From the perspective of assessing rehabilitation potential) In other words, it's not so much written to the judge but rather to the judicial branch or even the state more broadly
That's useless
Determining sentences is less about how evil this person is and more fundamentally about measuring how much it'll cost to rehabilitate them. If someone shows a cooperative attitude, you figure rehabilitation takes less time. That's the logic anyway. But I get that this reasoning is hard to swallow
So after hearing the explanation, you just realize it's a completely pointless and meaningless thing
Apology statements are honestly pretty meaningless. There are fixed sentences anyway. But if you watch trials, you'll see people who refuse to even write that pointless 'apology statement,' claiming they did nothing wrong. Those people usually get harsher sentences
Victims usually don't get apology statements anyway—it's just judges who do. The irony is the judiciary sees how defendants treat victims, but then counts a written apology to them as a sign of compliance and uses that as grounds for reduced sentences? That's dumb as hell. People don't even reflect, but there are apology statement companies getting paid to write them—looks like a cartel. The escrow system also lets defendants bypass their actual victims with fake escrow deposits as retaliation—basically the judiciary is actively offering a victim-retaliation service treating defendants as customers. In a way, the judiciary has no concept of victim protection and acts like a criminal organization serving the, defendant-customers
But even if you let everyone off like that, there's overcrowding in prison—why are there so many criminals?
That's hate speech? That seems like a compliment lol
If you bring out real hate speech, things get serious
If that came out, the broadcast would be shut down
For real, their face would turn beet red and they'd be spitting foam lol
I get a good mood when I eat, so I get a sentence discount too
Write real hate comments and they'll arrest you lol
AI won't take responsibility so they say they can't use it, but judges don't take responsibility either—what's the difference? That AI is more trustworthy?
It's not that AI won't take responsibility, it's that they don't trust it
lmao finally someone said it, judges deal with so much disrespect online and people have no idea what that job actually entails
Honestly, you guys apply the 'contempt of court' charge too
You don't even get identical sentences for identical crimes—standards keep changing lol
The comments section on the original post must have been BRUTAL, no wonder he needed to make a response video
So when do judges ever take responsibility for the verdicts they hand down?
This is actually really refreshing to watch, didn't expect to feel bad for a judge but here we are 😅
What about a judge who said 'we don't have time to look at the evidence you submitted—if you're upset, bring it up in appeals court'?
Not me expecting him to be angry but instead he's just... reasonable and kind about it? Respect.
