I actually got to experience extreme jobs like firefighter, deep-sea welder, Alaskan king crab fishing, snake milking, mining, and septic tank diving through the show 'Extreme Jobs,' so I know this is real facts no cap
What kind of life have you been living... are your arms and legs still intact?
It's like how someone who's tried meat knows how to eat well—you gotta actually go out and play to know how to really enjoy it. I think a happy life isn't about having a fat bank account, it's about having tons of fun memories. If you can make unforgettable memories through backpacking in your 20s, isn't that enough? I think so.
lmaooo this is literally the opposite of what everyone tells you to do in your 20s 💀 what's the catch??
Turn off flexing about efficiency first lol
ok but like... when IS the right time then? genuinely asking because i'm broke either way
I started tutoring and doing part-time jobs like crazy from age 20, saving up money. Back when I was in college, European backpacking was huge among my friends—all my classmates were going on international trips while I just kept working tutoring gigs until I graduated at 26, stacking that bread. Then I got a job but I'm just not into travel, hobbies, or drinking sessions, so money kept piling up. After 9 years of grinding, I had about 150 million won by 29, which I used as a down payment for an apartment in Wirye when it first went on sale. That's now worth 2 billion won lmao. Honestly I think building a nest egg with that travel money and investing it in your future hits different. I wasn't specifically like "I gotta buy an apartment," but because I was saving, I was able to grab the opportunity when it came. If I'd backpacked Europe with my classmates, getting drunk and spending money, I probably wouldn't have had the down payment when my lottery number came up. Travel when you're young might be better (?) I guess, but the happiness from assets is bigger... zero regrets. At least I got assets left over, but money spent on travel? Just memories and photos lol. Meanwhile my friends who partied it up when they were young are still bouncing around monthly rentals or just NOW looking into buying property and paying massive late-entry premiums ㅋㅋ
It's different values, but if the only win is buying a house 5-10 years earlier than your friends or buying a more expensive one while they're out having fun... seems like just having a good time would be better? Your friends are gonna buy houses anyway eventually...
If you quit social media in your 20s, you're guaranteed to win
I think having international experience in your 20s is good. The thing is, whether it should go on too long really depends on preference. A few months of experience? Great memories for sure, whether it's traveling or working abroad. Korea's a country where 'decent housing' is expensive relative to population size. If you don't wanna be hopping between monthly rentals when you get older, getting a job early is one option.
That's the only time you got cheap experiences and the stamina to walk everywhere and travel... once you start making money you just end up throwing cash at everything.
honestly this hits different when you're 28 with no savings and memories instead of a house deposit
strongly disagree, travelled my ass off at 22-25 and it literally changed my perspective on everything, no regrets
