Oh my god... FREE TIBET
The UN will just pump out a condemnation statement and call it a day, reminds me of the Japanese occupation era when they believed in national self-determination from the Treaty of Versailles and begged for independence
They won't even put out a condemnation statement. The UN is just a puppet organization.
I don't get why those giant countries with so much land won't let this small nation live in peace. What, not enough population? No resources? Why even bother????
That's just how those things work...
There are 6 major rivers originating in Tibet. India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam could all dry up and die.
* Security & border defense: Very significant * Preventing separatism and maintaining territorial integrity: Very significant * Countering India: Significant * Water resource control: Significant * Mineral resources: Moderate
Isn't it because there are so many ethnic minorities that if you let one break away, others might want to as well?
Tibet has important water resources and strategic value, and if you let one region separate, there are several other places that would want to do the same.
With the water resources there, China can control India and Southeast Asia by the throat possible.
So it's about water...
China's been trying to do this since way back—creating a buffer zone to protect the country is the core strategy.
Thinking about it, these countries should have supported Tibet fully, but it's a shame none of them are doing well enough to do so.
So tragic...
Should've gone with armed struggle like Afghanistan instead of trusting the UN and doing peaceful protests...
As long as space remains, as long as sentient beings dwell, so shall I also remain to alleviate the suffering of sentient beings.
The older I get and learn about the UN, the more they seem like complete bastards.
A group of complete morons.
And US bootlickers
They weren't China bootlickers?
The UN's specialty is just expressing regret.
Whether it's the UN or whatever nonsense, I won't forget that sacrifice for my whole life. Watching videos of independence activists these days doesn't feel like someone else's fight
I don't think it's possible at this point. Han Chinese have basically occupied the capital Lhasa. China is throwing money at it like crazy, so a lot of people living in Tibet are like 'well, we're already screwed, might as well get paid.' They even send people to study abroad to assimilate them. The Panchen Lama, who the Chinese government appointed as a rival to the Dalai Lama, was kidnapped by China and they put a puppet fake Panchen Lama in place. Considering all this, even the current Dalai Lama's request is just for some autonomy, but there are people who resent even that, so there's internal division. I think it's pretty much impossible
